What Scares You? Do One Thing Every Day That Scares You

Quote of the Week

“Do one thing every day that scares you!” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Wow, powerful! What scares you?? For me, it’s putting myself out there with new ideas, projects, endeavors. It’s going to Gatorland . It’s the Orlando eye. It’s a roller coaster . It’s learning a new task. It’s not spending enough time with my children. It’s leaving a legacy.

What scares you? What did you do today?

Your playdate with God: Playing outside!

Another insightful excerpt from Playdates with God by Laura J. Boggess. The change in seasons is MAGICAL. This is one reason why I enjoy going back home for the season changes- september – fall leaves changing, december- snow, april- spring flowers, and summer- fun on the lake! In addition to the seasonal changes, God asks us to come to Jesus like a child would. How do we do this?

We play outside- stroll down to the creek, roll down a hill, walk thru the woods, ride a bike, visit the library, do sidewalk chalk, run, read under a shade tree, watch the sunset….Playing outside with God is like falling in love with him over and over again. It’s you, God and the beauty of creation- you see what you were created to be. What will you do outside today?

Simple Schedule

How’s your schedule coming along? Do me a favor- make a list of the most important things you want to accomplish this summer- for you, for your children. Write them down and prioritize them. You could even choose different days of the week to do them on. For example, Monday is math day and mom day. Tuesday is trip day and tech day.

Wednesday is work day and wash day. Thursday is treat day and theatre day. Friday is fun day!! Whatever is important for you to do during the weekdays, whether it’s 1, 2, or 10 things, make it memorable and make it count!

Meaningful Field trips

Your Tuesday trips can be as simple or as complex as you like! A trip to the library is fun, trip to see family, trip to the pool, trip to a theme park, trip to a museum. Whatever your trip is, make it meaningful . When you go the library, be specific about the topic you’d like your kids to read about this week. For us, it’s President Lincoln. When you go to see family them a meaningful card or a small scrapbook of pictures.

When you head to the pool, exercise and swim some laps. Heading to to a theme park? Find out some hidden information and captivate on it (more on this with Disney parks). Go to the science museum and incorporate your child’s favorite science experiments! Meaningful= memories!

I hope your week is filled with things that scare you, playing outside in God’s creation, a memorable schedule of events based on your priorities, and field trips that are meaningful.
