I’m pretty sure we have all been the recipients of a random act of kindness. I’m also sure that you felt really good when you were the recipient of a kind deed.
Whether it was from a friend, family member or a complete stranger, receiving kindness is one of life’s greatest joys. It’s not just receiving kindness either. Giving kindness and spreading positivity feels even better than someone doing something nice for you!
So imagine for a moment what the world would be like if we stopped focusing on our differences and came together on the things that make us human. We all want to feel loved, we all need help sometimes, and we all have an urge inside of us to help others.
If we gave into these feelings and started spreading kindness on an individual level then the entire world would change in ways we might not even believe are possible. Here are just a few ways kindness can change the world.
Kindness is infectious
When someone does something nice for you, what is your immediate reaction? It’s probably to do something kind for them in return! Once the kindness bug gets you, there’s no escaping it.
It can easily spread from person to person causing a chain reaction of kind acts and good vibes.
Kindness promotes equality
We may create the illusion of separateness through labels like gender, race, or political affiliations, but these quickly get erased through kindness. Being kind breaks down these barriers and connects people on a deeper level.
Kindness promotes self-esteem
An act of kindness can turn a person’s whole day around or even the way they view themselves. Something as simple as showing someone respect or giving a heartfelt compliment can do wonders for a person’s self-esteem.
Kindness educates
Kindness opens the door to compassion and understanding. These are the core components of fighting ignorance.
When we take the time out to understand others, learn new perspectives, and share our own knowledge we are helping humanity evolve into something greater. Knowledge truly is power, and kindness promotes knowledge.
Kindness feels good!
When you’re kind you feel good, plain and simple. You’ll notice that once you start engaging in more random acts of kindness you’ll never want to stop.
The most amazing part of being kind is that we all have the capacity to do it. The world doesn’t have to be full of hate and negativity, but nothing will change if we don’t change.
Start making a difference today by sharing our kindness cards and doing an act of kindness every day.
